“Silence dans la Cour” is a choreographic work by the Citadanse company that tackles, with both power and sensitivity, the mechanisms of bullying and power dynamics within our societies.
Through movement, the bodies of the performers and group dynamics, the piece highlights the dynamics of exclusion, social pressure and silence that can take hold in various areas of life: at school, in public spaces, at work or even in everyday relationships.
The performance specifically explores the power of the collective and the stance taken by each individual. How can a group turn against one person, isolating or undermining them? And, conversely, how can that same power enable people to come together, support one another, act in unison and build together?
Through hip-hop choreography, bodies meet, confront one another, collide, repel one another, but also reach out to one another and support one another. The collective becomes both the subject of the piece and its choreographic material.
Moving beyond the issue of bullying, the piece invites everyone to question their place within the group, their responsibility towards others, and the strength we choose to give to the collective.
